A Journey Shaped by Nature and Craft

My story begins in the forests of the Ural Mountains, where as a little girl I spent hours walking with my grandfather. Together we gathered herbs and flowers, slowly simmering them on a coal stove to create botanical extracts used to soothe and heal the skin. Those early experiences taught me that nature carries extraordinary power and beauty.

Around the same time, my grandmother entrusted me with something equally meaningful — her sewing machine. That machine became the beginning of my lifelong connection with design and craftsmanship.

As a teenager I began sewing my own clothes, creating dresses, jackets, and evening gowns. Although I later studied engineering and worked in industrial quality management, creativity never left me.

During difficult economic times, I returned to sewing, creating garments for my daughters and elegant dresses for friends and colleagues. What began as necessity gradually became a deeper passion for fashion design.

A New Chapter in New Zealand

My search for freedom, creativity, and a new life brought me to New Zealand, a country whose natural beauty deeply resonated with my values.

Here I began entering fashion competitions and presenting my designs publicly. My work received recognition at several fashion shows, including awards for evening gowns and finalist placements at the Pasifika Fashion Show.

One of my designs was worn by my daughter during the Miss Earth New Zealand competition and received the award for Best Fashion Wear. These moments encouraged me to continue developing my work as a designer.

From Olive Grove to Natural Perfumery

Another important chapter of my life began when I met my husband Gregory. Together we cultivated an olive grove in rural New Zealand, growing olives, fruits, and herbs.

Working closely with the land strengthened my connection to natural ingredients and inspired my studies in aromatherapy and botanical wellness. I became a certified aromatherapist and later opened a natural skincare and wellness practice.

Through years of working with women in massage therapy and aromatherapy, I witnessed how scent influences emotion, memory, and inner wellbeing. This experience eventually led me into the world of natural perfumery.

My first perfume was created as a gift for my daughter’s 21st birthday — a fragrance named Anastasia. What began as a personal creation grew into a deeper exploration of botanical fragrance design.

Today, every Oli Valenti fragrance is crafted in small batches using natural plant extracts and botanical absolutes, creating perfumes that feel elegant, intimate, and deeply personal.

Fashion had always been part of my life, but it took many years before I fully embraced it as my path.

The name Oli Valenti emerged naturally, inspired by my own name and identity. It marked the beginning of a new creative chapter.

I began sourcing luxurious European fabrics, particularly from France, and designing garments in very limited quantities. Each piece is produced in small batches in New Zealand, combining thoughtful design with exceptional materials.
